Specific example of how humans have altered the physical geography for the industry

Company name: Jericho Diamond Mine (Shear Diamonds LTD)

Location: 420km northeast of Yellowknife and northwest territories in Nunavut

The land is altered by the mining company extracting large amounts of dirt from the ground, creating a massive holes every time they dig.

This impacts the tranquility of the land and has horrible effects on nearby communities and wildlife. When the trucks are transporting diamonds, they drive over ice lakes. With each load distributed, the weight sends out waves under the ice, which impacts and disrupts the shore line. Also with the big holes, if they do not get filled, they will eventually be effected by soil erosion.
