Plastic, bags and cardboard packaging allows food to travel further distances, stay longer on the shelves, and ensures that large amounts of food do not go to waste. Therefore, plastic, bags and cardboard are usually used in packing.

3. Why do you think that all of these materials were chosen specifically for the products purchased?

■I think the first reason is if we have materials, we will look at the food cleaner than the food without materials.

■The second reason is that it will keep it more fresh and keep the food for a long time than without materials.

4. How is packaging both positive and negative for the consumer (the person using it)?

Positive:

  • It can look better.
  • It can stimulate consumers to buy

Negative:

  • It is not friendly to the environment.
  • It wastes

5.What happens to these packaging materials once we have eaten the food inside?

According to research instructions, containers and packaging alone contribute over 23% of the material reaching landfills, and some of these discarded materials are food-related containers and packaging. Additionally, packaging makes up a majority of the litter that ends up on our beaches and other waterways. It’s estimated that there are already 165 million tons of plastic debris floating around in the oceans threatening the health and safety of marine life.

6. Where is the packaging waste after one day? One year? One hundred years?

  • If it is paper cardboard, it takes three weeks to four weeks.
  • If it is a plastic bag, it needs more than a hundred years to a thousand years.

7. What happens to the food waste?

  • If you recycle it, they will go to the food waste recycling yard and become fertilizer
  • If you throw it away in the trash, the food waste will become rubbish.

8. Provide 3-4 suggestions for ways that consumers can decrease the amount of waste we create.

  • By minimizing the use of disposable items and promoting the use of recycled articles.
  • Separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste before dumping them.
  • Recycle all the waste that can be recycled.
