week 16 – math 10

This week we started to look at arithmetic sequences, and I learned how to determine if a sequence is arithmetic or geometric.

An arithmetic sequence is a pattern with a difference (d) increasing or decreasing by the same value each time.

ex. 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,……   or  20,10,0,-10,-20,-30,……

Whereas a Geometric sequence I when the pattern has a difference of multiplying by the same value each time.

ex. 2,4,8,16,32,64,……

you can also tell if  a pattern is terminating or not by the ….. after a comma:

ex of terminating: 1,2,3,4,5,…..,6   or  1,2,3,4,5,6

ex of non terminating: 1,2,3,4,5,6,………..
