Digital Footprint

If you post something without thinking, it is possible that a future employer will view it as a poor reflection on your personality or work ethic, and you could struggle to get Footprints in the Mud a job. On the other hand, if you have nothing negative, or something positive in your digital footprint, it will reflect positively on you, and can help you out in getting a job or something like that in the future.

To avoid posting something you might regret, you should think before you post. That is really the most important thing you can do, but another way to maintain a safe digital footprint is to use a different name online than your actual name. The last thing I can recommend is to try to mess around with your privacy settings so not just anybody can see what you post.

I don’t think I’ve really learned anything yet from this course, and I don’t exactly go about discussing with my friends how to “stay safe online” per say, but if I did, I would probably tell them to think before they post, use a pseudonym online, and put their accounts on private.
