how might my digital foot print affect my future opportunities?
my social media has nothing “inappropriate” on it, its a clean profile. I mainly post about things like food, art, and my dogs. but that doesn’t mean it cant affect things. on my art account I am active in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, if I want to work in government or a work place they maybe don’t support that and then look at my digital foot print. when they see I support them they possibly wont hire me. Or in another case someone might see that and want to hire me because of it.
describe at least 3 strategies I can use to keep my footprint safe and appropriate:
- I can check that what I’m posting is not bad or harmful to others
- I can keep my personal information private and not share it/ keep my account private
- respect others and don’t cyberbully/ double check what you say on the internet
what information do you wanna pass on to the other students? and how would you?
I want to say the internet isn’t as safe as you think it is or want it to be. some pieces of advice are: don’t post stuff you wouldn’t want a stranger or parent to see, never share personal information (phone#, school, age). I could inform students of this through my story on social media, or putting some advice in my bio, or just telling them in person.
