Here are my questions and answers for TOKTW:

 

The interview:

Alisa Zbarskaya – my mom

What is your job title?

Accountant of SLR (environmental consulting)

What is the job description?

I am responsible for preparing and examining the financial records of the company, as well as making sure that taxes are paid properly and on time.

What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at this job?

  • Preparing financial records
  • Making sure taxes are paid on time
  • Closing the month every 30 days

What qualifications do you have for this job in the following areas:                                                                                                         

Training/education?

Master’s Degree in IT, diploma in accounting, CPA designation

Experience?

Over 5 years of working experience in accounting

Skills and attributes (personal qualities)?

Detail oriented, accurate, great analytical skills

What are some things you like about the job?

Doing analysis, investigating correct errors and preparing financial statements

What are some things you dislike about the job?

High level of stress at each months’ end

How do you anticipate this job changing in the next 5 years or so?

I anticipate that I’ll be more automated, resulting in less errors.

  1. a) I like working in an office
  2. b) I like interacting with others

Give 2/3 reasons why you would not like this job?

  1. a) Too much time spent in front of a computer (bad for eyesight)
  2. b) Requires a lot of thinking/math, which could get uninteresting after a while

Is this job for you? Why or why not?

I don’t think this job is for me because it’s not something I find interesting. In my opinion, dealing with numbers all day isn’t the way I would like to spend it.

Explain the value of the TOKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post-secondary (after high school) plans (education? Training? Travel? Work?).

After this day I confirmed that this isn’t something I would like to do as my career, so I still don’t really have too much of a perspective on my future job plans.
