Warfare changed with planes because war was much better with planes and they were very useful in the war. In the war people used planes so tha they could see where the enemy team trench is and see what thy are doing down their and see what their plan is. In the plane the pilot was unarmed but they did have a few weapons with them including pistols and grenades.
