This week in Math 10, we focused mainly on trigonometry review due to the unit test mid-week. Since I covered most of the unit in the last summary, this week I chose to answer the bonus question : How to use trigonometry to measure something around/near your home. I used a picture of my sister and created a question for each missing measurement.
- On a summer day, the sun shines overhead of my sister Shelby, casting a 4.8ft shadow to the west across the pavement. Shelby is 5.6ft tall, what is the length from the top of Shelby’s head to the end of her shadow?
- What is the angle of depression from Shelby’s head down to the pavement?
- What is the angle of elevation from the pavement up to Shelby’s head?
