Trip To California

Trip To California

It was time again for my annual road trip with my Dad to California. In June of 2019 my dad and I made the long trek to California in our black, Buick Enclave. Our first night of driving was awful because the rain was flooding the windshield and the hail was beating on the car.  The miserable weather made it difficult to see. We drove to Sacramento, California to visit with my dad’s aunt. We finally arrived and were happy to have the scorching sun soak into our skin. After our visit, we drove 6 hours down a long, straight highway to Disneyland. We stayed at a hotel right across the street from Disneyland. It had a gigantic pool that was 12 feet deep and the water was really warm.  We had lots of fun swimming in the pool. We stayed there for three weeks and went to Disneyland every day. The weather was always really nice and the park was not very busy. We went on lots of rides, watched parades, and watched the fireworks every night. We ate at the Galactic Grill which is my favourite restaurant at Disneyland. My favourite rides are Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railroad. I like Splash Mountain because we would always get wet as we plummeted down the steep waterfall. They also played catchy music the whole ride. We would sing “Zip – a – dee – doo – dah, Zip – a dee -ay!”. The Matterhorn was lots of fun because you speed along the jerky track as you wind up and down the dark, scary mountain. On one part of the ride the ginormous Sasquatch jumps out and he really scares you. Space Mountain was a really thrilling and exhilarating ride because the whole thing is in the dark and you don’t know where you are going. It is a super, fast roller coaster ride. You can feel the wind in your face as you speed through the many turns and dips as the galaxy twirls around you. Big Thunder Railroad is a wild rollercoaster that takes you through the desert. My dad and I had a really fun time at Disneyland.  We then hopped back in the car to make the endless drive home. We stopped in San Francisco and went to Pier 39. We also drove over the Golden Gate Bridge. We could hardly see anything as we drove through the low lying, milky fog. It was a long, fun, and adventurous trip. I can’t wait to go on next years!
