During Bard on the Beach I learned a lot and I also had lots of fun. I think it was good to do something where we were learning but not sitting down at our desks. With Bard on the Beach everyone was cooperating and everyone was involved which encouraged everyone to learn. Everything that they taught us I never knew before and because those days were so different than usual (like sitting and learning at our desks) I think I will remember everything we learned for a long time. My favourite part was making the tableaus on the first day because we all got to do something and helped my understanding of how plays worked in Shakespeares time.
Before Bard on the Beach I didn’t know much about Shakespear. The only story I knew was Romeo and Juliet but I hardly knew the full story. I found the story the “taming of the shrew” very interesting and I really enjoyed learning about the story and acting out certain parts in groups. I liked how we weren’t only listening to the story and we were acting out parts ourselves as well as watching other groups too. Before this workshop I thought that it was going to be very boring because Shakespeare is from so long ago and I thought I wouldn’t understand anything but they found out a way to teach us about Shakespear and the taming of the shrew in a way that we all understood and they made it fun.
Overall I enjoyed every part of this workshop and I hope to do something similar in the future.
Well you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go
Staring at the bottom of your glass Hoping one day you’ll make a dream last But dreams come slow and they go so fast
You see her when you close your eyes Maybe one day you’ll understand why Everything you touch surely dies
But you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missing home Only know you love her when you let her go
Staring at the ceiling in the dark Same old empty feeling in your heart Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast
Well you see her when you fall asleep But never to touch and never to keep Cause you loved her too much and you dived too deep
Well you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go And you let her go Well you let her go
Cause you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missing home Only know you love her when you let her go
Cause you only need the light when it’s burning low Only miss the sun when it starts to snow Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low Only hate the road when you’re missing home Only know you love her when you let her go And you let her go

Song Analysis Paragraph
The song “Let Her Go” by Passenger has a lot of meaning and he uses lots of comparisons to help show the deep meaning. He expands on the statement that you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone with all of these comparisons to the main idea; “Only know you love her when you let her go.” The song also contains lots of figurative language and imagery. “Everything you touch surely dies” is a hyperbole because you can’t kill everything by just touching it. He is trying to say that whenever you get involved in something you accidently mess it all up. In the song he expresses how much he regrets letting her go with his heartbroken and sad tone as well as repeating “let her go” many times, an example of repetition. Another piece of figurative language he uses is alliteration with a repeating ‘s’ sound; “only miss the sun when it starts to snow.” The alliteration in this song seems to help with the flow of the lyrics. An example of the descriptive imagery he uses is, “staring at the ceiling in the dark, same old empty feeling in your heart.” In that example he creates an image using your sight and feeling. Passenger’s song has 14 stanza’s or verses and the majority of them has a rhyme scheme that goes aaa (low, home, go) bbb (glass, last, fast) ccc (eyes, why, dies) and so on. To sum everything up, the song “Let Her Go” by Passenger is a very poetic and meaningful song with a main point; you don’t always realize what you have until it’s gone.
