Aquaculture is slowly becoming more important for our global food supply because the supply of seafood from fisheries are declining.
With how the system works it seems like the fish will be free from pollution and may grow to be healthy, and with the continuous water exchange, it enables more fish to be kept in the same space than would be possible with pond farming.
The net-enclosures keeps the fish in its natural environment while its in constant exchange with the surrounding water. This helps with the feeding, controlling and harvesting of the fish. Although the problem is the products of the fishes’ metabolic processes enter the surrounding water directly, as do waste and medication given. If not watched over it could negatively affect the local ecosystem.
Closed recirculating systems:
With this system, it enables the breeding of any sea creatures at just about everywhere with little to no impact on the environment. It is more expensive than other systems. The wastewater of the system is treated constantly and returned to the breeding tank, keeping it away from natural water sources making it an environmentally self-sufficient system.
