Week 14

This week we learned how to determine the solution of two linear equations.

We are using the Substitutions to find the interesting point.

This is how to use the substitution.

Ex) x + 4y = -3 & 3x – 7y = 29

> x = -4y -3. > 3 ( -4y – 3 ) -7y = 29

> -12y -9 -7y = 29 > -19y = 38 > y = -2

> ( x , -2 ) > x + 4 ( -2 ) = -3 > x – 8 = 3 > x = 5

Solution = (5,-2)

step 1) chose one equation and make it to x = ~~ or y = ~~.

step 2) put the x or y equation you did at step 1, and find the real value of the x or y.

step 3) If you determine the x or y value at step 2, then put that value at the equation which
it is given at the first and find the last x or y value.
