Water quality – Luke Sim

Coquitlam River
Pond

We check the water quality in the pond and in the Coquitlam River behind the school.
The methods used for water quality testing are as follows.
1. Measure the temperature of water and air using a thermometer.
2. Put a sample of water in a container and check how the color changes using a water rod.
3. If the color changes, compare the color of the sheet received and select the same color.
4. View information about colors and get the information you need.
(For example, we can see how much oxygen is in the water.)
5. Compared to the sheets that catch and receive bugs, you can find out what the quality of the water in which they live and then guess what the water quality is.

I did my activities with Joshua, Casey and Rintaro. so I could know that the water quality of the Coquitlam river is clean. Coquitlam River looked very clean and we couldn’t smell anything from there. However the Pond looked very dirty and it also smelled very bad.
Smell that it was coming from the water was like roughen eggs, so I thought the water quality of Coquitlam River will be clean, but the water quality of the Pond will be dirty. Water was very cold inside. We also tried to catch some insects if we can, but unfortunately we couldn’t find enough insects for activities. But other friends caught few insects from the Coquitlam River, Water strider. I searched the what kind of water quality do they live, and they was living in water which it has good quality. ( and I also wanted to know the name of the insects in Korean, so I searched it on Korean internet system, and that insects lives in good water quality)
