Photography 11 Portfolio

I chose to take photography 11 because I found a passion for taking photos. I think photography is a great way to capture moments in my life. I get to hold onto fond memories through my photos. I learned a lot while taking Photo 11, my favorite part would have to be light painting because I enjoyed playing with the shutter speed. I think that my photography has improved greatly over the course of the semester. Some of my favorite photos are of my friends because I love highlighting our friendship though photos. I think the most challenging part of the course was fully learning about the camera but after adapting to the settings I found a true passion for messing around with the white balance, aperture, and shutter speed. Along with light painting, I really enjoyed the rule of thirds assignments because I enjoy the asymmetry and symmetry in photos. I ran into some problems and difficulties when trying to use photoshop and the avatar project. I problem solved by switching to the architecture project and had much more success. I plan on using photoshop in the future while going on trips or hanging out with friends to create long lasting memories.

Indigenous Studies Core Competencies

For this course, Critical Thinking core competency was most prominent for me. My final project was creating a spoken word form the perspective of a young boy. I had to use different thinking styles to properly display his emotions.  I had watched the film Indian Horse, and read the book as well, so I felt I had a good understanding. I still had to change my thinking styles and pattern of speech. Overall, this course was very interesting and I was able to expand my core competencies.
