Follow the same steps as when solving equations
- Use BEDMAS
- Simplify and/or distribute to get rid of the fractions
- Collect like terms to isolate the variable
- Check that your answer is a true statement by substituting an appropriate value
** The only difference will be when multiplying or dividing by a negative number. In this case, you will need to flip the inequality sign around
