Sentence: My owner wouldn’t bother to throw me out
Phrase: He kept repairing me
Words: Jump, scratch, repair
Reflection: I chose these words because they stand out and paint a picture of my story, which I was able to turn into a short poem after because those 3 words basically told the entire story. My shoes were ripped because I was jumping on my skateboard, which damages the shoe (scratch). I repair the shoe after because I don’t have money for another pair.
I learned that in order to create a meaningful poem, I should brainstorm and just write first, then I can pick out the important parts or the words that stand out and build my poem from that.
Poem:
Jump, jump, jump,
Scratch, scratch, scratch,
Repair.
Even as my entire face was ______, he would not let me go
He was too poor to buy another shoe
