1- How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? List 2 examples
a – If I was applying for a job and my employer researches me on google, or any social media apps, he will be able to see my account and the photos that I have posted. For example, if I had inappropriate photos on my Instagram account or if I had alcohol or any sort of drugs in my hands, then he will be able to see them and most likely tell me that I cannot be eligible for the job. Show interest of your job on any social media or any other app that your employer might look at to show that you have a passion for your job, this might give you a better chance of getting the job.
2 – Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?
a – Don’t post pictures you aren’t comfortable with people seeing. Keep your account private on any social media app, so you can choose who you want to see your photos and you can choose who you want to follow you. Do not have a inappropriate profile picture so if your employer sees it, he may have a different opinion on you.
3 – What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?
a – Turn location services off because people and companies are able to track you, but it could also be a good thing. For example if you lost your phone, location services will say where you last where and you can go to that spot and find your phone. Don’t have any pictures you aren’t comfortable with other people seeing because it is easy to find those images on the internet or on social media if you don’t keep your stuff private. Have a private account so strangers cannot see your posts and if you ever delete an inappropriate picture off your account, it might still be somewhere on the internet so make sure you don’t post the picture in the first place.
