Racism Then and Now

Racism existed for a long time and we still see them today, the difference is that today, racism is not as bad as before. Somewhere around the 1900s, African American were discriminated by Americans. Racism had been a huge thing back then, South American people had black people as their slaves, African were taken away from their home and was sent to America where they were treated horribly by their owners and worked in horrible conditions. Slavery wasn’t the only way African American were discriminated, black people had to sit on the back of the bus where black people sat.

Today, were still see racism but not as bad back then. It’s impossible to entirely prevent racism but we have laws to try prevent this issue like the Charter of Rights and Freedom. Stereotypes are one way coloured people are being discriminated in a way. People assume that people with small eyes are Asian and Chinese people are assumed to be good at math.
