Good Afternoon,

-Drawing exercise:  Chapter 1 the first few paragraphs.

Chapter 1: 

-Give students a piece of blank paper.  Read aloud Chapter 1

-Students are to listen to the description of the setting and try to picture what the setting of the novel may be like.  They are to draw a rough sketch of what they have imagined. 

-Steinbeck uses different techniques in his writing/descriptions –comparison (simile, metaphor, personification etc) detail, and appealing to the senses. 

-Finish Reading Chapter 1

-Complete Chapter 1 Questions
