Persuasive Writting: Choices

In “Choices” by Susan Kerslake, I believe that both Ken and Peggy is to blame on what happened to Peggy because both of them did not took the necessary actions to make the trip safer. “Peggy only had a little time to make up her mind” (p.117) this possibly meant that Ken gave Peggy little time to think if she want to go to the trip. Peggy also had a the choice not to go and she was not forced. Ken’s car was small and can fall apart any time and add to that it was packed with to much belongings. The car has “a tangle of shapes, a thick, stale smell. Some parts were clean and shiny. Most were cranked with oil and dirt” (p. 118) if you think of it it is a poorly maintained car. “…while the car was running she could see parts moving.” (p. 118)  and even though she noticed that there are multiple problems in the car she did not say anything to him. Since she was awake till mid-night, had a very little amount of sleep and only had coffee in the morning means she had a slow reaction time. Ken on the other hand is way too relaxed on the while driving “his legs loosely apart. One knee resting on the door the other brushing the gear shift.  One hand griped on top of the wheel, the other, upside down letting the wheel slide back and fourth through his fingers, was softly curved.” (p. 119) which is a bad posture to drive.
