Is Ben Altruistic

           Altruism is an act of selflessness just to help other people. Ben’s characteristics, in “Seven Pounds”, is altruistic in nature because he shares many similarities with the giving tree. When Ben donated his house to a woman that has children and internal organs to the people that he didn’t even know, for example, he gave half of his liver to a lady because he felt guilty that he is the reason why his wife and 6 other people died in a car accident. The giving tree gave his fruit and parts, for example, the branches and trunk just to make the boy happy. Before Ben committed suicide he gave Emily comfort and happiness while the tree still gave the boy comfort and happiness even tho it’s only a stump. Ben is also different to the giving tree, for example, he helped many people while the giving tree only helped the boy, Ben gave more things than the giving tree and Ben
