At first, I didn’t really understand what grace was. I have heard of it before, and kind of knew what it meant. This is the essay I’ve chose to do this time. It’s called ‘Grace Is a Gift’, written by Laura Durham. Firstly, it’s nice how the author worded things. I could understand what she was trying to say, with not too many challenging words. The second thing I have to say, is that it’s nice how myself can relate to it. How I can understand it. The author explains a memory she has of elementary school, that her ‘disappointment disappeared with an unexpected gift.’ It’s a feeling which makes you feel so happy and thankful. Because when someone does something for another person, they may not know how much it means to them. How a little action can mean much more. It’s like giving to others, we may not feel much about it, but the person receiving it will be overjoyed. The author demonstrates this when she wrote that she forgot her spelling test at school, which means she could not participate in the class activity, but the teacher graced her with love and understanding. She had learned that day, ‘how much grace can lift a person’s spirit.’ “Gods Riches At Christ Expense,” I know that giving grace to others will make them feel that way too. It doesn’t matter if we earned it or not, grace is a gift, not an earned reward. And giving joy and happiness to others, will make me feel good enough.
