Week #4 in Math 10

This week we learned about exponents, negative exponents, fraction exponents and how to make fraction exponents into radicals. There was one question that I had gotten wrong on our skills check that we did, even though it was a little error it made a big difference in the answer of the question.

In this equation on the left I made the mistake of seeing the 64 as a negative, it is not part of the 64 because it is a coefficient and the exponent only touch what is immediately to the left of it which was only the 64 not the negative. If the 64 had a negative with a bracket around it then it would be a negative integer, but because it doesn’t the negative sign has an invisible ”1” behind it.
