This semester I’ve learned about setting up a stream by streaming the Spoken Word Finals. Even though I already knew the basics of setting a stream up it was a bit different with a dedicated capture card and camcorder. We had to work out quite a few audio problems along the way.
- What aspects of your work are successful? Explain why.
We were able to successfully archive the spoken word on the Riverside Youtube account as well as get the stream ready in time for spoken word to start.
- What aspects of your work are challenging? Explain why.
The biggest obstacle we faced was trying to figure out what was causing a feedback loop since most of us weren’t experienced in the audio side of things.
- What steps did you take to overcome these challenges / what adjustments did you need to make?
It took some patience and trial and error as we tweaked the settings to make it sound as clear as possible.
- Is there anything you can do improve? (with your approach to the project, or altering the project)
I think we could have been more prepared for the stream as we didn’t have the charger for the camera with us when it died.
Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)
If there is any way for us do get a better place/angle to put the camera it would be a big help for the stream quality.
