Year End Reflection

What are some things you have learned and/or tasks you have accomplished this year? (Use videos, pictures, upload materials etc. as evidence of learning in your blog)

Being a part of the creation team, we didn’t have too many projects this year. I think that the main thing I worked on was a graphic for the Coquitlam Secondary Schools Athletic Association. I mainly just contributed ideas and helped with the design when working on it with Josh. Our main challenge I think was trying to get everything to fit with the page size we were told to use. To get everything to fit we had to make some compromises with the size of the title. I think we could have improved our approach to the project by having more communication with the CSSAA and had a better understanding of what they wanted.

As Riverside continues to immerse itself into innovation and technology, what do you think Riverside can do to provide support and help for teachers and students? (Provide specific examples)

I believe that if more teachers had a better understanding of the technology they used it would save class time and benefit students learning (Ex. A teacher is having a problem with a projector and ruins the lesson plan for the day). A way we could give teachers a better understanding is have a day similar to the grade 9 boot-camp, but with staff members, where we can focus on programs and technology teachers use.

Do you have any feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective? (Provide specific examples)

I think we need to bring more awareness around the school as to what Tech Team is doing. I feel like many people aren’t even aware of what we do. For example I’ve seen people who didn’t know the wave moved to the library. Maybe Tech Team could benefit from putting small updates or something in the announcements.
