Where I am From Poem

I am from Music

From Rock and Roll

I am from the home in the basement of a daycare.

I am from cauliflower, bushy and bright

I’m from fishers and engineers

From Armando and Maria

I’m from the ones who are late and the hardworkers

From “be quiet!” to “speak up!”

I’m wondering about the world

I’m from the little town of Poco

Burnt meals and canned food

From the time I could’ve drown

The memories in photos

That are locked away in books.

They’re all dear to me.
