The Human Condition

The movie Forrest Gump (directed by Robert Zemeckis) is about a man who reflects on how he has faced many hardships in his life and yet still proceeds to find joy in life. He was often bullied by other kids at a young age and was also limited by his leg braces. Soon he gains the ability to run without them and also finds out he is an amazing runner. This leads to him getting a football scholarship in high school. After he finishes school, he joins the military and goes to fight in the Vietnam War, and despite being shot he managed to rescue five of his comrades. After this he still continues to inspire people by doing things like jogging across the country and becoming a very adept ping-pong player. Forest Gump continually demonstrates that humans are hopeful even in the darkest of times. This movie shows that even though some humans can be mean and cruel or that the world can be unfair, humans still can find joy and happiness throughout it.
