Freak the Mighty

In the book Freak the Mighty, the two main characters both face their own conflicts but learn to help one and other. Kevin, who was nicknamed Freak because of his small body and his growing organs faced many conflicts. Although Freak is very small and weak, Maxwell whose dad’s in jail, stood up for Freak because he was the only one that treated Max well. Both characters have something in common, both was shunned and disliked by everyone because Freak was weird and tiny and Maxwell is tall, intimidating and looked like his dad which struck fear in everyone’s eye. Also, Freak is extremely smart but not the best at sports such as running. On the other hand, Maxwell couldn’t tell which way is left or right but was very athletic. Together they make a perfect team. This book shows that friendship is important. Even though both characters were despised, both were there for each other and made great memories to cope through their sadness and loneliness.
