week 14 – slope of a line segment

Durig this week in math, we learned how to find the slope of a line segment on the graph.

The slope line of a line segment is a measure of the steepness of a line and its formula is slope=rise/run.

To find the rise and the run, you have to know that if the rise goes up, it becomes positive and if it goes down it becomes nagative.

so as the run, if it goes to the right,  it becomes positive,  and if it goes to the left, it becomes negative.

week 13 – function

During this week in math, we learned about a function.

A function is a special type of relation in which each element of the domain is realted to exactly one element of the range.

For example – 1,a) is a function because the inputs did not repeat.

To find the functions – For graphs you could determine which relation is a function by finding vertical lines

-For the arrow diagram, if one onput is mapped to more than one output It’s not a function

– For the ordered pairs if the input value, is repeated is not a function

week 12 – Graphing

During this week in math, we started the new unit. we reviewed things that we learned in grade9 and we learned vocabs that we need to know for graphing.

origin – the point of intersection of the two axes that is labelled at 0

coordinates – the numbers of an ordered pair

X coordinate – the first coordinate of an ordered pair

Y coordinate – the second coordinate of an ordered pair

week 11 – factoring trinomials using a box

During this week in math, we learned how to factor trinomials by using a new method which is a 4 sided box.

So what you do with the box is you put the first term in the top left corner and the last term in the bottom right corner. And then you gotta find the 2 numbers  one that is equal to the mid term when adding and one that is equal to the product of first term x last term when multiplying. Once you find out those numbers you put that in the box and find out the numbers in common in each row. And then all you have to do is write out the numbers as equation.
