I made a shape with toothpicks, each time I wanted to make a new square I added three toothpicks to the shape. Below is what I ended up with. I started with four and added three each time. How may toothpicks did I use after making my last shape, figure 6?

Equation= Y= 3x + 1
The relationship between the Figure number and number of toothpicks is the equation above; Y= 3x + 1. I know this because I used the number of times the toothpicks went up which was three and then you times that by the figure number and then I got one less the number of toothpicks so you add one!
