Piktochart – Seven Matches
This is the Piktochart I made for the poem/song seven matches by Gord Downie. It is about a boy escaping a residential school and trying to survive on his own in a forest during the winter time. The boy was given seven matches by a girl in the residential school. She told him not to go into the woods with them, but he didn’t listen to her. He then ended up dying from starvation and the cold.

She thought she knew who they were, she thought they were a good friend.
They weren’t the same person she met, as soon as she found out she got upset. Her heart broke into a million pieces of glass. She thought their friendship would last, she thought it would grow. They were different in person then they were online, they didn’t talk as much, but she thought it was fine. When she met them, she didn’t know she would now be in this position, they made stupid mistakes and some bad decisions. They started to lose close friends, somehow, they always came back like a boomerang, anyhow. She didn’t know what to do, you could say her emotions started to lack; she eventually got tired like running a million laps around a track. She started to sweat, she started to tremble, her knees felt weak like spaghetti, her stomach stared to grumble. They hurt her and her friends, but she never thought of letting them go. They told her everything, even over their best friend she thought she was special. They tore her apart, they got her frustrated, like a bunch of letters making her feel deflated. She felt herself get dizzy like seeing spinning birds, she got a headache; they made her head hurt. Like a brain freeze, her brain cells were frozen; like being stuck writing the last sentence of a speech. There were many ups and downs, it felt like tornados destructing things all around. She was about to leave, she was about to let go; until they said they were sorry, she then started to fill with sorrow. She didn’t how to feel, it confused her like a plain meal; everything was bland, she had apple in her hand. She took a bite, the crunch was loud. Despite how she could feel; the juices were trickling down her face, but she somehow couldn’t taste the sweet delicious fruit. She didn’t want to lose them, a friendship that was golden; shining bright like a diamond, she didn’t want to take her eye off of them. It wasn’t just her, it was other people too; feeling hurt by them, they gave her and her friends all a big boo boo. Is it love? Of course, it is, a friendship that could last forever even through all the hardships. They broke down the hard rock wall together, feeling accomplished. But no, no, no this isn’t the end; high school is just starting they need to apprehend, all these moments will change who they are and make them understand; life isn’t as easy as they thought, it isn’t always how they planned. They became more distant which let her be more resistant, it became a habit and she became more resistant. It’s not getting better, but not getting worse; before doing anything else, she always thinks of this verse: would she give up someone she cares considerably for, just to receive the feeling of amerce?
