Desmos Signature- Math 10

    1. My process for ‘Desmos Portrait’
    • The ‘Desmos Portrait’ project is very interesting because I like designing letters or shapes. To fulfill the signature of the project, I set up 4 steps to follow.
      • Step 1: Deciding types of letters.
        • I decided to use capital letters and lower cases. For the initial of my first name and last name, capital letters will be fine. All the other letters will be lower cases.
      • Step 2: Deciding the size of letters.
        • I calculated the proportion of capital letters and lower cases to make the best-looking shape. After several trials, I think 3 to 2 is the best ratio.
      • Step 3: Choosing colours.
        • To make the signature stand out, I carefully choose colours. My name has repeating vowels ‘e’ and ‘o’. I decided to use the same colour for the vowels. For the capital letters, I use red and navy blue to make them noticeable.
      • Step 4: Designing a clipboard.
        • A clipboard represents the film industry. My long-term goal is to work in the film industry. Therefore, I think a clipboard can go along with my signature. This is why I design the clipboard for this project.
    1. Difficulties and Solutions
    • Making oblique is the most difficult part. To resolve it, I set up a linear function that has a proper slope to make the shape. Calculating slopes was easy; however, defining domain and range was hard. I used the linear function that passes through the endpoints. Then, I found coordinates of the intersection points and defined the domain and range.
    • For designing a clipboard, it is hard to make obliques on the upper side of the clipboard. However, I found that all of the black stripes can be parallel. Therefore, I use the parallel and distinct to make kinds of black stripes.
