Homework Lesson #3 – Introduction to Art History

THE DINNER PARTY :

 An “EVENT OF HISTORICAL AND SCULPTURAL SIGNIFICANCE”

You are to  select by puttting your name beside, a historically significant artist from the list of artists on the following linked document:

When you put your name beside an artist no one else can choose that same artist.  Once you have selected an artist on the list you need to research and prepare in a slideshow of the following information about your chosen artist.  (Upon completing the research slideshow you will need to “represent” the artist by creating three pieces of dinner table objects that you will make out of ceramics., but that assignment is for later in the week). Right now, just prepare the slideshow.

The slideshow presentation

A. should show a minimum of FIVE different works of art by this artist. The names of the art works should be included on the slides.

B. should fully and thoroughly tell the following information:

  1. Name of the artist, when she/he was born and when/if he/she died.
  2. When did she/he start making Art?
  3. Where did/does the artist live?
  4. What was her/his preferred media for making art with?
  5. What was his/her inspiration/influence/muse to produce art?
  6. Tell about one significant event in her/his life.
  7. Tell about her/his choice of art Style that he/she produced art in.
  8. Tell all about one of his/her most significant Art works.
  9. Where can this artist’s work be viewed?
  10. What FOOD do you think this artist would most likely serve/enjoy eating at a dinner party? Explain why you think so.

YOU SHOULD SAVE YOUR SLIDESHOW TO YOUR “oNE DRIVE” AND THEN YOU WILL NEED TO SEND ME THE LINK TO YOUR SLIDESHOW.

0 marks if not answered, or answered incorrectly

1 mark if answered simply or briefly

2 marks if answered thoroughly and fully
