Community Connection

Elise Mouchelle,  I chose her for this because when she played volleyball she was about the same height that I am and still played at a post secondary level and she had a super high vertical and has been helping so many people improve their skills. I have been watching her videos for quite a while now and have been following her tips and once I heard about this project for the first little while I didn’t think to ask her but when I saw one of her videos again I realized she would be one of the best peopler me to ask about this

.

Once I asked her, she got back to me pretty quick, before today I had never spoken to her. But I just picked up my phone and messaged her and within an hour she messaged me back. When I messaged her I asked her to get back to me and if she’d be willing to answer a few questions about volleyball and all the work that she had to put in about an hour later when she got back to me she said that she was more than willing to answer some questions and once I sent her the questions within 5 minutes i had a response.

She had struggled a little bit when she was a player because of how she was a little shorter than the other people on the court with her. But she worked really hard increased her vertical and ended up playing NCAA D1 indoor volleyball. She now makes artwork; she has her own business and is in a loving relationship. I think that she is an inspiration to me. She works so hard, bet the odds and then continued with her life.  I love how hard she worked to get better and she inspires me to get better, in volleyball and to remember that there is more to life than volleyball

I asked her:

what would tell someone that is interested in doing what you are doing

To work hard no matter what and believe in yourself!

what obstacles have your face to get where you’re at today

I had a lot of people tell me that I wasn’t tall enough, and a lot of coaches told me no, that they didn’t have a spot for me on their team.

why are you passionate about volleyball

Because it’s a great team sport and I think it’s a lot of fun!

how did all the effort you put in to this help you

It helped me increase my vertical, it helped me with my initiative, and it brought up my athleticism!

what is the most important thing that you learn after all these experiences

To not compare myself to other people and to always be the hardest worker on the court!
