Happiness

This article was interesting to me because i think that the feeling of happiness is something we’ve lost in our society today, we’re constantly trying to be better than one another and we do not see the bigger picture. The article talks about the book The Happiness Fantasy and interviews its’ author Carl Cederström, the interviewer Sean Illing had some very thought provoking questions for the author. They discussed the title of the book and how it relates to society in the way that there is a strong connection between popular morality and what we as a society think happiness is. They talk about the 60s, 70s and 80s and how the public viewed corporations and certain politicians pushing a consumerist lifestyle and this drove many people to live an “authentic life” driven by free love and free sexuality. This article portrays happiness as an ever evolving feeling and reveals to me at least that there is no one definition for happiness because over the last 50-100 years the concept of happiness has shifted so many times.
