1. I picked this image of maple syrup because it is very common in Canada and it has a nice flavour.
2. I think this relates to Canada identity because we have a lot of maple trees and Canadians are known for making maple syrup with the sap. This also connects to the Canadian flag which is the maple leaf.
3. Canadian people in the 1900s would connect less to maple syrup because back then, the flag wasn’t the maple leaf yet so they would think it as a normal syrup.

1. I picked this news article of Justin Trudeau saying sorry for the Komagata Maru incident back in 1914. The Komagata Maru incident is when hundreds of Sikh, Muslim and Hindu passengers in a ship were denied entry to Canada and was forced to go back home.
2. I think this represents to Canadian identity because we are apparently known for saying sorry and we apologized for this incident. We are also now very inclusive and welcoming to other cultures compared to back then.
3. Canadian people in the 1900s would not connect to this article because they did not say sorry for this incident until 2016 and were less welcoming to other cultures.
