Math 10 – Factor trees

In the first week of Ms. Burtons Math class, we learned about Factor trees, they can be hard at first but once you understand factor trees, they will make a lot of sense as well as help you in math and make it easier.  I will show you how to do Factor trees step by step below. The number I picked for my example is 48

Step 1: Look at what factors go into your number (mine is 48)

Step 2: write the factors down that go into your number for me it’s 48 and the factors that go into 48 are 8 and 6.

Step 3: look at what numbers go into 8 and 6.

Step 4: See what factors go into 8 and 6 (sometimes your number doesn’t break down as fair but break each number down until it can’t be broken down anymore or you can’t find any more factors.)

Step 5:  Sometimes factors only go into one of the numbers so for me it’s 4 and it’s the only one that has factors left but 2,2,3 don’t have any more factors, so I don’t do anything for those ones, I just leave them.

Step 6: if you want to check use all your factors to see if it adds up your number so if my factors add up to 48 it’s correct.

What it looks like overall
