Week 19- Bonus blog post

This semester I learned that for me to be successful I had to ask questions and talk to the teachers more because I rarely do that in any of my classes, so math has helped me with this because when I was struggling with a question or a certain unit I might have had to ask more questions than other units and this is important for the rest of my school year because when it gets me more comfortable with asking a question not just in math, but in all subjects. This has helped me because sometimes at lunch when I was having trouble with a math unit, I would go to Ms. Burton at lunch for extra support and for more examples of the units I was having trouble with like for the midterm we have coming up I have been going for a brain fresher and as well as just to make sure I was doing the questions right and if she could give me any tips for anything. The second thing I learned is that when we did point-slope form that is something that has helped me a lot with graphing and as well as I can carry on for my math career, this has helped me because we have been doing graphing for most of our second half of the semester and everything we have to do is with graphing or slope and point-slope is one of the easiest forms and one of the most helpful ones because it can convert into both equations like y-intercept form as well as general form which is pretty useless, but an example of point-slope is 4(x+2)=y-6 a little bit about the equation is that the (x+2) is that the addition sigh means the two is negative and the (y-6) is that the six is a positive number, so the coordinates would be (-2,6). When I learned point-slope it was one of my favourite things to do this year because it is one of the easiest and most helpful forms of finding slope as well as creating an equation for slope. The third thing I learned this semester is always get the teacher to explain things to you if you have a question because they can it in a better way than when my friends as when my friends try to explain it they don’t show every step they just tell me the answer or they show me their work but don’t tell me how to do it, and this showed on some of my tests because I did not know how to some of the things on my test and sometimes I did not know how to do certain steps, because I didn’t ask the teacher for help and one of the biggest things I learned is to always ask the teacher for help even if I’m the slightest unsure how to do something. the fourth thing I learned that will help me is to always do my homework this is common sense but in math, at the beginning of the units I did not do all my homework and didn’t do all the questions that were assigned and this affected me on the tests because I got lower marks than I wanted, but after when we did all our other units I started doing my homework and the extra practice and I got higher on the tests and this is important because it didn’t just teach me for math, but for all my classes that when you put you do the extra review and practice that good things come out in the end of it and you get better marks. the last thing that I learned this semester that will help me is to make sure you know where you made a mistake meaning when I’m doing a question and I make a mistake on it I need to know where I made the mistake and why I made it, but mostly  know the real answer of the question or how to d0 the equation, I have made a mistake before and I figured out the real answer of the question, but I did not understand why I made the mistake in the first place meaning I did not know where I went wrong, but I think it’s important to know where you went wrong, so you don’t do it again but so you know how to do It right and so your brain realizes the real answer of the question.
