Week 17- Word Problems (Vocabulary)

This week in math 10 week 17 we learned about word problems to go with what we learned last week because it all connects. Still, we focused on word problems for this week. Something I thought was pretty useful was that there are words in the word problems that give you clues on how to solve the equations. It makes them much easier because it tells you what to do I thought this was useful because word problems arent fun nor does anyone like them, so these words are good to know.

Word problems can be hard when you are looking for certain things and information, but when the equation is long usually it gives you clues in the first few sentences, and ill tell you the words that are common in word problems and that will help you be more successful with them.

Is, Was, Will Be- These words are action words and these words equal the equal sign in the equation. example: this is a different word for “equals”.  an example a number times three will be nine.

From, Than- these two words are flip words which means that anything after these words will be ahead of the equation. example: 4 less than 7. It wouldn’t be 4-7 because it has a switch word which makes it 7-4.
