Teen Gang Member Stabbed in New York Alleyway
Last Updated: March 12th, 2015, at 6:30 AM
Last night at around 11:30 PM, 16 year old Andy was stabbed to death by unknown suspect. This is the third stabbing of a Royals gang member this year, and it is thought to be related to the last two stabbings. Andy is thought to have been in a gang, as he was stabbed in the stomach while wearing a Royals jacket. Bystanders admitted that they did not wish to be involved.
Police investigate the scene of the crime earlier this morning.
(Jeret Holt CBC)
“It all happened really quickly,” says Angela. “everything seemed to go by super quickly.” Her boyfriend, Freddie says that Andy didn’t seem like he was going to die, he just seemed in pain.
It seemed as if none of the bystanders helped, merely because he was part of a gang. Corey Gill, the owner of the well-known bakery, United Cakes of America, says, “It was really weird. I was just closing up my shop from baking a huge wedding cake, and all of a sudden, I see people walking out of the alley super shaken up. But then again, I didn’t think much of it, because this is New York and a lot happens here. I feel bad though. I should have looked further into it. No one looks that shaken up after nothing happens.”
The felon is thought to be apart of rival gang called the Guardians, as the last two victims were killed by members of the Guardians. The police are still investigating, so if you or anyone you know has any information leading up to this case, please contact our toll free line: (718) 946-3311
Kristen Stewart on Gender Inequality
View the article I talk about by clicking the link here:
http://news.nationalpost.com/arts/celebrity/kristen-stewart-comments-on-gender-equality-in-hollywood-do-something-instead-of-complaining
Very recently, actress Kristen Stewart stated her opinion on gender equality. She stated to Vanity, that people should stop complaining, and start doing something about it. Her statement started uproar and caused even more controversy towards the actress. I chose this article because I feel like it represents the film industry and most industries in the world. Also, I think it’s important that the article includes someone that most people know, so it can captivate their fans’ attention and spread awareness to the issue. I believe that this article really relates to the story we were reading in class (The Friday Everything Changed), in the way that they both show how men are viewed as superior to women in a lot of industries, especially the film industry. I think that it’s important to raise awareness to the wage gap, and gender stereotypes, and I firmly believe that it’s extremely important for celebrities to use their fame in order to spread awareness, and use their title for good, and not for bad.
I think that it is important to add that there is a huge difference between gender and sex. By definition, sex means: Either of the two main categories (male and female) into which humans and many other living things are divided on the basis of their reproductive functions. Gender, however, has many variations. It’s not defined by male or female, or which reproductive organs you have. In fact, there are over 51 genders, including agender, bigender, and gender fluid.
I hope that by now, you have a better understanding on gender equality, the wage gap, and gender stereotypes.
