For this English COL project we had to make a graphic novel version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Here is my graphic novel. I used FireAlpaca to draw it. The exposition is the first 2 panels, the first one is Hermia’s dad telling Theseus that Hermia doesn’t want to marry Demetrius, and the second one is Theseus telling Hermia she could be executed if she doesn’t follow her dad’s wishes. For the initiating incident had when Lysander and Hermia decided to run away while Helena (who loves Demetrius but he loves Hermia) tells Demetrius about their plans to make him love her instead. The rising action #1 is Oberon telling Puck to find Cupid’s flower and to squeeze the flower’s juice into the eyes of his wife and the eyes of a young Athenian (Demetrius). Puck squeezes the juice into the eyes of Oberon’s wife, Titania, but misunderstood who the young Athenian is, instead of putting it in the eyes of Demetrius he puts in in the eyes of Lysander. Rising action #2 is Pucking turning Bottom’s head into that of a donkey. Rising action #3 is Titania falling in love with Bottom with his donkey head because of the love flower. The climax is the Athenians, Hermia, Lysander, Helena and Demetrius getting into a fight because both Lysander and Demetrius have fallen in love with Helena because of the love flower but Helena thinks its all a joke. The falling action is Puck fixing Lysander and Titania with the flower, reversing its effects. The conclusion is Lysander and Hermia together and Demetrius and Helena in love but Demetrius is still under the flower’s effects.
Jaden,
Thank you for posting your “Graphic Novel” project taking one source of writing (literature) and transferring it into a new piece of media using your creative perspective. Below are some observations about your post:
– Excellent use of the software (FireAlpaca) to retell the story
– Looks like a professional graphic novel and loved the frame division for panels
– You embedded this properly on your Edublog
Overall, I think you did an outstanding job with the technology!
