In the video “Reliving simple moments after cancer” a man named Dennis is being interviewed about what life is like after cancer. The video was created by Yann Arthus-Betrand.
Dennis had cancer when he was 26 years old. He was close to losing the battle with it but he fought with all of his power to beat it and he did. He said “everyone knows they’re going to die someday, but no one wants to go that early”. So he made sure he didn’t pass that early. After his illness cleared up and went away he bought a farm. The farm that he bought was one off of a friend who was an old man he’d talk to after doing chemotherapy for his cancer. He’d talk to the man on his walks home about numerous things such as cows and about the old mans farm. Dennis said he really appreciated the talks with the man but he eventually ended up passing away. Once Dennis was clear of cancer he learned that before the old man passed away, he told his wife to sell Dennis his farm because he knew he was the best one to take care of it. So Dennis bought it and now is a majorly proud farm owner. It was always his dream to have a farm for him and his family.
This video shows many examples of the human condition. It shows that there’s always positive things in life no matter how dark things can be. Dennis also showed how he appreciates every little tiny thing so much more then before he was sick. He said “even just letting one of my cows lick my hand is so amazing”. That really shows that you shouldn’t take anything for granted. Every little thing counts.
