Today in math we learned about the history of different units of measurement and how our current system came to be.  Before today I never really thought of how we created our system of measurement (metric system) and never really wondered what units humans used before our systems today were invented.  I learned that for the most part measurement started out by using different parts of our body as reference for example, our arms, hands, feet, etc.  then we developed the metric system which I learned was created using a fraction of the earth’s circumference then dividing by ten to get the smaller units.
