Science 10 Making babies

this is the baby i made with Reagan
we rolled wrote out our traits and rolled dice to decide what the baby had.
her skin color is light brown, she has dark brown eyes, with brown hair, and large dimples.

How does the coin flip relate to the probability of inheriting genetic conditions?
the flip coin represents real life because there is usually a 50/50 chance for each trait and the coin flip also has a 50/50 chance

How does this simulation accurately represent or not represent real life?
this is a prime example of real life cause if one thing over powers the other is is shown very clearly. as it did so in this experiment.

Did you identify any prejudices you might have about what traits you find “desirable”? Where do you think these prejudices come from?
we could not find any traits that were desirable in this baby we had.

science 10 rugoldburg project

This is our Rube Goldberg project.
Steps: a phone vibrates causing the ball to fall off and hit another ball, the ball then goes down a ramp and hits a stick that rotates and pushes another ball, that ball goes through a bottle lid, across a path of straws and falls into a bottle cap, the cap has a string attached which pulls a straw holding a ball and the ball goes down a ramp and hits dominos, the dominos fall into a path and ring a bell

Energy transfers: vibration to kinetic, kinetic to gravitational potential, potential to kinetic

Chemical Reactions Analogy Blog Post

Temperature

Molecules move around and collide when temperature is higher. Analogy- When it is colder outside not many people are out moving around, but when it is hotter out people will go outside and get active and they will be moving around, which means more collisions will happen with others.

Concentration

More concentration means more collisions, concentration is the amount. Analogy- More cars drive during traffic hour which means during this time there will be more collisions and car crashes.

Surface area

Is when molecules go on to the outside of an object then goes onto the other layers of the object and then makes it way into the middle. Analogy- In the amazing race the people, which are the molecules, enter the race, which means they are attracting onto the outside, and then run the race until they get to the finish line, which is the middle of an object.

Catalysts

These speed up reactions by finding two to match up. It’s like a shortcut. Analogy- For certain iPhone games, you can pay money to upgrade certain things in the game.

Float your boat

In this experiment we needed to make a boat out of tin foil and marshmallows to hold as many pennies as we could so we folded foil around marshmallows to make a boat, we then put pennies in the boat to see which boat cold hold the most without sinking, our boat held 23 pennies.

if we put pennies in a boat then it will float this shows that the boat has the ability to hold the mass of the pennies.

In conclusion our boat was only able to hold 23 pennies because it wasn’t able to withstand any more pennies cause of the fact are boat didn’t have enough surface area to spread out the weight of the pennies.
