Weekend Poetry by Iliyan A

Sick at Home

Poor Child

Stuck at home

Coughing loudly as he watched YouTube

He was very bored as the day went on

It was awfully cold in the house and he sat by the heater

He was forced to drink icky medicine from his teacher

It was very bitter

I don’t get how it would cure sickness if it’s sickening itself

He was depressed he couldn’t go out with his friends because he was sick

He had nothing to do other than watch YouTube and Netflix all day

He hated how much his throat hurt and how his head would always get headaches

It was disastrous that he was sick because he setup a bunch of plans to go out with his friends

Including to get amazing Miracle’s Belgian waffles

It was a quite brief weekend where I accomplished nothing of use

Quickly he realized that this weekend was one of the most boring

It was a very bad weekend overall and there wasn’t anything good that came other than finishing Season 1 of Suits

THE END

Get to Know Me

My area of true freedom, complete tranquility somewhere I can go to forget the problems of the world, the Basketball Court .The second I step onto the hardwood floor, my negative thoughts are all wiped away and I am filled with never-ending joy, as if it was my first time stepping onto the court and picking up a basketball. The court is my canvas and every time I step onto it I create a masterpiece. When I have the ball I feel like the world is placed in my palms. I feel like nothing can go wrong, nothing can stop me, not the referee and definitely not the opposing team. I’m in my territory, where I am the best, every decision, every move and every shot I take is the right thing to do. When I’m on the court it’s just me the court and the ball I have no fear, no pressure, just mounds of self-confidence.

I jumped happily out of bed to look through the window as i knew there would be lots of glorious snow as I charged downstairs after getting ready in my wool sweater, my new coat, and my very useful snow pants. I swung open the door and rushed outside to meet the wonderful weather. The dazzling blue sky had been replaced with a misty glacial freeze. The fluffy snow was decorating the trees with a beautiful white outline of fluff. The unique snowflakes fall delicately from the white cloudy skies onto the ground, where they can be rolled up tight into a friendly snowman. I dived into the white, fluffy snow in front of me and stared up at the sky at all the snowflakes falling and making this land a mysterious white color. I also saw the clusters of trees towering above me catching the snow before it hit me.

Music is a fascination. It can take a person out of their ordinary life and place them in a world of their own imagination. When I hear it, the sound of the pleasant music rejuvenates  and heals me while taking me to somewhere else, where I don’t have to worry about anything. As I go on spotify and put on a great song and am immediately calmed, it resonates through my blood giving my energy throughout my body. It’s a strong melodious tune, very rhythmic soothing me as I got enthralled and sucked into the music as it puts me in a small area in my mind where anything can happen and everything is within my control. A place where everything is always okay and I don’t have to worry about anything. It bring out my deepest emotions it helps me through whatever I’m going through and is always reliable to be there when no one else is there.

Life Of A Gene Mutation

Part 1:

My host is a young boy named Tyler. As a gene, my story on my mutation was that I was changing, everyone had trouble accepting the new me as it was just so different from what i used to be. It seemed to be common at the time everyone was changing, the new trend got popularized fast through out the cells.. Maybe even altered. For Tyler he was feeling weaker he had trouble walking, he was getting pain in his arms and legs, muscle cramps and slurred speech. He went to see his doctor with his mom to see what was going on. He got told that he had contracted ALS which is a familial disease which he most likely contracted from his grandfather who also had it. He was confused and asked the doctor how it happens. The doctor told him his cells we’re altered with the mutation of it along with putting his genes in a autosomal dominant pattern, which he told was, you only need one copy of the altered gene in each cell to contract the disease. I felt Tyler appreciate life more after he contracted ALS as he knew he wouldn’t be this strong forever, and went out to do everything on his bucket list while enjoying the time he had with his family and friends, but he also was very mad that his happened to him, he felt like all his friends would go on to do great things with their lives and he’d just die. He is trying his best to make something of himself with the time he has left and making sure to enjoy life while it lasts.

Part 2:

1. The questions I had to learn we’re:

What happens to the genes during ALS

How do you contract ALS

What are the symptoms of ALS

2. I really only researched the information and didn’t use any new tools as I worked through this project.

3. I used google, which gave me a lot of different places with different information and stories of people with ALS.

4. I verified by checking multiple websites to make sure my information was correct and precise. I cited the websites by putting the citations down below.

5.I think I could’ve gone into more detail about Tyler and what he was doing to enjoy his life and try to make something of himself before its to late.

Science Stop Motion Collaboration Fluency Project

This is the link to the stop motion video:

Collaboration fluency:

1.We had strength’s with some people having creative ideas for the project. We also had people who knew how to edit, and do the voice over. We got strength’s in plenty with everyone having different ideas and different types of creativity which helped in the project.

2.I edited, me and Patrick made the clay sculptures, Eva moved around the sculptures to create the stop motion while we made what we would need next for the stop motion. I also did the voice over for the project with help from the notes.

3.We want to meet deadlines, try to make sure the work is equal and have everyone having fun and working together while doing the project. We want to make sure we have everything and try our bests to get the highest marks possible.

4.I feel we’d have a problem and it would be more difficult to get a good mark or finish the project if these rules aren’t followed.

5.I don’t have questions. I understand the requirements of the project.

6.Our goals is to meet the deadline and acquire a good mark while also having fun together while doing the project.

7.The final outcome will look like a fluid movie with a voice over to describe whats happening. Information that is needed are what happens during each phase along with the order of phases.

8.Day 1 would be planning, Day 2-3 Would be taking pictures, Day 4 would be editing and day 5  would be finishing any loose ends.

Digital Footprint

1.Your digital footprint will be looked for when you try to get into a college/university as they check your digital footprint, the same thing occurs when you do an interview, they will check your digital footprint to see if your good and professional or bad and lazy. They’d make sure your qualified to be working at their establishment.

2.Don’t post anything bad, don’t get peer pressured into posting something you don’t want to post. Make sure not to post anything inappropriate and especially don’t bully people or say rude or mean things about anyone over the internet.

3. I would pass on the fact that if you post something, it’s there forever on your digital footprint and will be extremely hard to take off, almost impossible to take off of your digital footprint. If anyone ever looks you up, it’ll be there for them to look at. Social media can be a very dangerous thing if you don’t use it correctly. Also, it’s not even good to do those bad things even if their not posted. Actively support those around you, if you wouldn’t want your parents to see it, it means it shouldn’t be posted.

Réflexion – Monsieur Lazhar

Je réponds à la question:  Quelle est la différence entre éduquer et enseigner? Pensez-vous que le système scolaire devrait seulement enseigner aux élèves et non pas les éduquer?

Science App Review

Solution Fluency

Define: Problem is that we need to figure out the intensity.

Questions: How many volts do we have? How much resistance do we have?

Dream: What could I do if I had something to figure out the intensity?

It could help me by letting me complete the question.

Design/Delivery: My plan is to use this website to complete the question by using it to help me figure our the intensity.

Debrief: I could’ve improved my plan by having the website, ready before I start the question.

I reviewed the app Ohm’s Law 1.3.4. It is a helpful science app on the Phet simulations website. You might be asking: How useful it is and what can it do to help me pass grade 9 science. Ever think that calculating intensity is hard in a equation? Well this application will help you do the equation in a more fun way! It helps you in the electricity course to calculate voltage by using the I=V/R equation. You can choose the amount of voltage and resistance which will give you how much intensity you will get with that amount of voltage and resistance. I went through the app testing around and it’s basically just a fun way of doing your science homework. It makes the equation easier to do and in such a fun way! I went through doing all my voltage/resistance questions with it to figure out intensity and I think it really helped me and was faster and more fun than any other way.

The pros of this application:

It’s fun. Easy to use. Helps you with your homework. I mean what can’t it do! You can figure out the Intensity of most questions in a fast, easy and best of all, fun way! It also has really great sound effects whenever your pulling a lever to change the amount of volts or resistance.

The cons of this application:

You can only go to 1000 Resistance/Ohms or 9V/6 1.5V batters. But, other than those 2 limitations there isn’t anything to complain aboutadl16-review-pictures

This tool is easy to use and doesn’t really need any explication as all you need to do is change the number of amps and resistance to see how much intensity/amps you get. It does nothing to help you if you’re confused, but I’m sure you’ll figure out how to use it fairly quickly. The app helps you understand how much volts and resistance can create how much intensity/amps. It teaches you the amount of intensity that can be created from volts and resistance of different amounts of your choosing. It also helps you understand the equation as with this you’ll now that volts = intensity/amps but resistance will lower the amount of Intensity/amps, which means V/R= I. It completely helps you understand the equation. It’s a pretty innovative app as it shows a circuit below with the amount of batterys which give off the amount of voltage and shows how much voltage each battery is giving. It also shows how many volts are in the Red Sphere which is where all the voltage is going after getting resisted by the wires which I feel is something that isn’t shown much. adl16-review-pictures

Well that’s my review on the Ohm’s Law app on the phet simulator.

I hope you enjoy the app as much as I did!

Thank you for your time.
