The volcano is an old shield volcano –and one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of the World”. What makes this volcano interesting is that it’s one of the few active volcanoes in the Sierra Nevada Mtn. Range, with a “recent” explosion (1952). It made over 200 people evacuate and buried three towns in volcanic ash, magma and rock. Think of a modern day Pompeii in a secluded Mexican town.   However, not all is lost, as the general consensus among most towns-people is positive towards the volcano. Tourism boomed, scientific recognition of ex-small towns put places on maps and it made fertile soil. Most people say it’s a great climb, in fact, since it’s located 3, 170m above sea level some athletes have trained there to boost their aerobic endurance.

Symbiotic Relationship:

The sea anemone paralyses any predators by stinging them, then eating them. The Clownfish may eat the scraps or eat any parasites on the sea anemone. This is mutually beneficial, the fish eats the parasites and the sea anemone protects the fish while also nourishing it.

This python uses yellow and green to hide itself within trees and other vegetation. Its colours make it difficult to spot since it is very similar to the colours of leaves and plants in its habitat.

Zinc Oxide: The Most Rad Compound

Zinc Oxide: The Most Rad Compound

Crystal structure of zinc oxide

ZnO.

Zinc Oxide has long been used for skin care, burns, and minor scaring. It was discovered by… many people. It was used by the Greeks to make brass in the 1st Century AD, it was been used by the Indians, then the Europeans and Chinese. However, from what we know Andreas Marggraf and Antoine Lavoisier have been the main contributors to the popularization of Zinc. Zinc Oxide is a compound made up of Oxygen and Zinc. Zinc is a transition metal and oxygen is a Chalcogen.
