A better decision
Life is a difficult journey to face and it is one that has its ups and downs. As teenagers we are always gaining more stress from school and our social lives. We try to become more popular by following how others act because we think that the real person inside of us is not good enough. Boys try to hide their emotions while girls try to mask their “unappealing” physical features because we never live up to our own expectations. In school many of us care about our education. Lots of us hope to get into big universities and to be successful in life which makes people get very stressed especially for big tests and projects in grade 11 and 12.
In our generation we are so connected with social media which can be very dangerous because of the way it controls us. It has been something that lowers the self-esteem of so many people because we think of likes or comments as happiness. We tend to let the amount of followers play with our emotions which can end up with us in a state of depression. We are blind to the fact that the media is infecting our brains with fake feelings. The media not only makes you lose self-confidence it also keeps distracting us from finding our true identity by throwing all the bad things that society is doing right in our faces.
Different people seek for different solutions for their life problems and some choose the path of drug use and alcohol. They see it as a way to take a break from everything, using it to help them be happy for a short period of time. Drugs for many people are used to run away from everything that is difficult in life because they are too scared to face their problems. Whether it is school, family, or social stress, we shouldn’t be choosing drugs and alcohol as our option. Instead we should be searching for a way to forget all of our issues and pressures so we can be happy.
