Canadian Studies: Canadian Arctic

What kind of foods do the Arctic people eat? Would you eat the same food? Describe what their housing looks like? Could you live in the Arctic?

Food: They ate three types of seals, three main fishes, walrus, white whales, some caribou, geeses, ducks , gulls, terns, sea pigeons, gathered eggs and berries. I would eat it if I needed to survive.

Housing: The snow made their life more difficult, so they had to live in tents because they couldn’t build snow houses.. don’t think I could live, the conditions are very scace.

Why are people relocating all the time?

Because in different seasons of the year, the food was scace in a region and rich in others, so they had to relocate themselves due to the lack of resources in a region.

Why are there so many Indigenous peoples of the Arctic countries? Did the number surprise you? Yes or No? Why or Why not?

The Indigineous people lived there because their people have been there forever, so they have an adapted lifestyle for that environment and it woks well for them. The number surprises me because the region doesn’t seem a propitious place to live.
