How do you identify Canada and being Canadian?
Canadian identity refers to the unique culture, characteristics and condition of being Canadian, as well as the many symbols and expressions that set Canada and Canadians apart from other people and cultures of the world. We respect everyone’s rights. Everyone has the right to speak out and express ideas that others might disagree with.
I chose this reference because it describes how Canadian’s are and what we do, and how we live our daily life. Canadian’s are always polite, nice, and in a good mood, and this is what life as a Canadian is like; laughing and being happy with the people around you.
This video means a lot on what being a Canadian is like. I chose it because it explains we are more than the stereotypes the world thinks we are, with our poutine, and maple leaf, hockey and saying “eh”. Being Canadian is being proud, and loving everything we do in our lives. When people think of Canadians they think of people who wear flannel pajamas, live where it’s very cold, watch hockey, and eat poutine all day and say “eh” nonstop. They think our police, wear red uniforms, and ride horses on our streets. They don’t realize we are more than our stereotypes. We are a country, a nation, a group of people who love where they live and how they live their lives. We are Canadian and we are proud to be apart of the stereotypes, and the other things people don’t notice about us, but we do notice, and are proud of.
