digital footprint

(1) how might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples…

1)One example of how your digital footprint could affect your future opportunities is if when you were younger, in your teenage years lets say. you could have done something on the internet, like posted a video on instagram showing something racist. then when you are are older and you are looking for a job, your boss can easily search up your instagram page containing the racist video which can in return lead to you not getting the job or you getting fired. like for example the liberal Ala Buzreba who stepped down after someone dug up offensive tweets she posted years ago.

2)another example of how your digital footprint can effect your future opportunities is if you were maybe a very intelligent person/ very kind person that did a lot for there community (like volunteering), you could be on the local news. which means that this could make your social appearance very positive, leading to you being very liked and in the case were you are trying to get a job and your boss looks up your name he/she will see how positive and socially liked your are which will might if not always give you a better shot at getting the job. sort of like how Mr.Robinson made us look up his name and ask us if he would be a good person to hire and with his positive background of helping and information about all the good things he has done it was an obvious ‘yes’ to hire him.

(2)describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe…

1)A strategy you could use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe is by before posting/blogging read your post over and make sure you don’t have any inappropriate things that might offend someone

2)Another method to keep your digital footprint proper and secure is by making sure that whenever you are on the internet you are being positive and kind to others because you never know when the stuff you say to others will come back to bite you in the back

3)A third way to keep your digital footprint fitting and suitable is by going over it with your mom or dad and having them read it just to be extra safe that your digital footprint is safe and appropriate because like they say “moms always know”

4)One more technique to make sure that you digital footprint is well maintained and appropriate might be to have a system is place to make sure every time you upload its appropriate. for example Riverside secondary school has this system called “think” where you check off the things to make sure your post are appropriate.

(3)what information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?…

something i learned that i would pass on to other students is that your digital footprint could be very vital to your future because what you did in the past could really effect your future, positively and negatively. from you wanting to go to a university to trying to get a job, all you have to do is type in your name and you will see all the negative and positive things you have posted on the internet. How i would go about telling all of the other students this is by placing several posters around the school with showing how your digital footprint could affect your future
